For more than 30 years, the ULC has brought some of the world's most notable thinkers to the University of Iowa campus. Speakers have included an impressive roster of national and international figures in science, politics, business, human rights, law, and the arts. Each year the ULC hosts 10-14 thought-provoking lectures. Dedicated to diversity of thought, these events help enrich Iowa's academic environment and enhance its reputation as a prestigious Big Ten university.
The ULC is a Presidential Charter Committee whose membership consists of students, faculty, and staff. Students oversee and organize lecture events, performing all tasks from booking speakers and hotel rooms to coordinating publicity and media coverage.
